Penang Hotel Industry Expects Healthy Growth In Occupancy Rate Next Year Amid VMY 2014

GEORGE TOWN, June 12 (Bernama) -- The hotel industry in Penang is likely to register a healthy growth in occupancy rate next year driven by the Visit Malaysia 2014 (VMY 2014), says Malaysian Association of Hotels Penang Chapter.

Its chairman, Mary Ann Harris, said hotel players would see an increase in demand for rooms next year during the VMY 2014 following the influx of tourists and the various programmes offered during the tourism carnival.

Putrajaya's Double Events To Draw More Than A Million Visitors- Mohamed Nazri

PUTRAJAYA, June 12 (Bernama)-- Putrajaya will once again draw local and foreign visitors to its double attractions scheduled for June 22 to 30, namely the lighted boat parade 'Magic of The Night' and Floria Putrajaya.

Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz expects more than one million visitors to the nine-day event which promises a variety of interesting activities.

Terengganu Government To Make Bidong Island A State Heritage Island

SETIU, June 12 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu Government plans to make Bidong Island a state heritage island to attract more visitors to it but in a controlled manner.

State Tourism, Information, Communication and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jidin Shafie said, however, the proposal still needed to be studied and that the state was now gathering more information about the locations where Vietnamese refugee landed in the aftermath of the Vietnam war in the 60s and 70s spot.
