  • Penang Airport To Welcome Two Regional Airlines This Year

    George Town, MALAYSIA — The Penang International Airport (PIA) is expected to welcome two regional airlines this year prior to the expansion to increase its passenger capacity.

    Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) Managing Director, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, said the two airlines had never flown to the state. “I will not name them but an announcement will be made once everything is finalised,” he told reporters after the arrival of Qatar Airways’ inaugural flight to Penang here today.   • Qatar Airways begins flights to and from Penang

    George Town, MALAYSIA — Qatar Airways commenced its maiden Penang-bound flight on 5 February 2018, which took off from Doha at 2.30am (Doha Time).   • MAHB received 128.61m passengers in 2017, 7.6pc more than in 2016

    Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA — Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) network airports registered 7.6 per cent to 128.61 million passengers in 2017 from 119.56 million passengers in 2016. MAHB network of airports including Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (SGIA) increased 6.5 per cent to 10.8 million passengers in January 2018 from 10.14 million passengers in January 2017.
