Sitting on the banks of the Klang River, Klang’s picturesque Masjid Bandar Diraja Klang is a distinctive landmark in the royal town. Its name was changed from Masjid Klang Utara to the present one upon its official opening by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, in conjunction with the Sultan’s 64th birthday in 2009.
The mosque displays Middle Eastern influences injected with contemporary elements in its architecture. The whole structure is made out of concrete. Its trademark golden yellow dome with crescent-moon-and-star sky pointer can be seen from miles away. Its doorways, verandah and main portico are adorned with modern arches, while its interior is decorated with contemporary geometric patterns.
Masjid Bandar Diraja Klang is equipped with facilities such as seminar halls, 24-hour security, WiFi connection, religious classes and Arabic language classes.
