Kuala Terengganu, MALAYSIA -- The Terengganu government will set up an Arts Gallery (Galeri Seni) at the Warisan Bazaar as a new tourist attraction for the state, with the cooperation of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).
The three-storey complex will be a one-top centre for arts activities and heritage craft sale with an open concept to facilitate obtaining of information by tourists.
State Tourism, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman, Datuk Abdul Rahin Mohd Said said it was hoped the effort could attract more tourists to Warisan Bazaar, which is already a shopping centre for batik, songket, brassware and more.
"By having the Galeri Seni, the UiTM students will also be able to introduce and exhibit their graphic artworks and digital creations for batik, songket and other fabrics which Terengganu is known for.
"The setting up of the gallery was proposed by the UiTM Faculty of Art and Design after specialised diploma programmes were introduced like Graphic Design and Digital Media and Textile Design," he told a news conference at the Islamic Civilisation Park, here, Tuesday.
