GROWING MFAR RECOGNITION
With the latest recognition, the number of MFAR recognised tourism establishments in Malaysia has reached 123, covering hotels, travel agencies, and spa and wellness centres. This reflects the growing number of tourism businesses taking steps to provide services that are more welcoming and suitable for Muslim travellers.
The growing participation also supports Malaysia’s efforts to meet the needs of the global Muslim travel market, while ensuring that tourism experiences remain welcoming and comfortable for travellers from different backgrounds.
MFAR is an initiative by the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, to help tourism businesses understand and implement Muslim-friendly practices in their services and operations. Currently, MFAR covers accommodation, travel agencies, and spa and wellness centres, with plans to introduce guidelines for other tourism sectors in the future.
The Muslim tourism market is a high-growth market with potentially big spending power, forecast to reach USD424 billion (RM1 trillion) by 2029.
The full list of MFAR service providers are available at mymuslimtrip.com to assist travellers in planning their holidays in Muslim-friendly Malaysia.
